Personal Training vs. Group Training: What Should You Choose?

Strugglers of self-guided exercise and motivation should opt for a personal trainer. A personal trainer is also a good choice for those who work according to their own schedule.

It’s highly individualized: The personal trainer can guide you with what’s required for your body. Instead of going along with the flow of the group training, you can focus on what works best for your body. If you don’t have an idea of what you should work on more, it’s for you.
A personal bond: You develop a kind of relationship with the trainer. This motivates you to go for intense workouts. Since you trust the person, you make sure to go with his/her advice. Sometimes you even want him/her to be proud of you. This really helps a lot when it comes to carrying out your workouts.
He’ll make you push your limits: The thing is that having someone by your side constantly asking you to do one more of it in the set, makes you step out of the comfort zone. This develops your body quickly. The ultimate golden rule of workout is “no pain no gain”. A trainer would definitely be beneficial.

Cons:
Personal training is expensive: Personal training can be called a serious investment. Depending on the skills of the trainer and the type of gym you opt for, personal training can be variably expensive. It’s a given that if you want to be trained according to your requirements, you’ll have to pay more.
You may find them aggressive: Personal training is based on the ultimate aim of getting quick results. The trainer would most likely yell at you and do whatever it takes to perform your best. Sometimes you may find them a bit aggressive but it’s the driving force of your workout.
The trainer may have different ideals: Finding a trainer can be a tough task. The thing is that you’ll have to find one who has the same ideals as yours. In case you are being trained by a trainer whose ideals are completely different, there may be a situation of burnout.
Group Training
This is a very good option for elderly people who want to socialize while working out. It can also provide a kind of motivation for working harder.
Pros:
Pushes you to train harder: It’s a human nature to work on seeing competition. The moment we see others are competitive and they’ve got better results in the same interval of time, one feels like redoubling ones’ efforts. This is necessary if we want to maintain a habit of working out regularly and effectively.
It’s quite affordable: Most of us want to go to affordable gyms and also affordable training sessions. Not everyone is a highly paid professional. If you’re a college student, for instance, you’ll probably want to build your body on a budget! Well, in this case, group training can be very affordable.
Easy learning: When you workout in a group, you can easily learn the workouts just by observing. You don’t need to rely solely on the trainer. The moment you don’t get anything, just look around you and you’ll feel more comfortable, confident and motivated.

Cons:
No personal guidance: We should understand that everybody is different. What works well for others may not work the same for you as well. You won’t get that many personal tips as compared to personal training. It’s only good unless you don’t expect something specific from the workouts.
You are accountable only to yourself: Unlike personal training, this would require self-accountability. There’s no one calling you for the training sessions. The classes would be going on with or without you. You’ll have to be punctual and motivated towards your training sessions.
No personalized workouts: The workouts you’ll do in group sessions would be general workouts for everyday fitness. If you are expecting to get cuts and six-pack abs, then it’s not meant for you. Group training is good for beginners who just want to be habitual to everyday workouts.
Well, these were the pros and cons of both types of training. What’s important to note is that personal training is good for those who want specific guidance and want personalized workouts. At the same time, groups training is good for those who just want to go for basic fitness workouts.
