No one wants to return home with a host of feet issues. So read to learn how to keep your feet healthy while you’re on vacation.
Wear comfortable shoes
Wearing shoes that perfectly fit your feet should be your top priority. You never know how long you have to wait at the airport, or how far you have to travel. Thus, invest in a good pair of shoes which can keep your feet soft and comfortable all day long. Wearing loose flip-flops can feel comfortable while travelling, but will also increase the risk of your slipping on uneven tracks and spraining your ankle. These sprains can last long. Thus, in case it happens, one should consult a doctor as early as possible.
Wear socks with your shoes
Socks can provide a ton of benefits to your feet. It safeguards your skin from any kind of friction or scars which are caused by shoes. Wearing socks becomes all the more crucial when you consider the fact that you need to take off your shoes at the airport while going through security. Walking bare feet on airport can cause skin infections due to bacteria and other diseases. You can avoid this by wearing socks.
Avoid new shoes on vacation
New shoes can be absolutely stubborn and hard to wear. They can cause scarring on your feet, and a number of other skin-related issues. Instead, take along a trusty pair of shoes which your feet are used to, when you head for your vacation.
Include flip-flops, but use sparingly
Do not wear Flip-Flops all the time. There are places that are infectious and can prove detrimental to your feet. Therefore, you need to wear shoes that fully cover your feet while going there. Reserve the flip-flops primarily for areas like the side of the swimming pool, or locker rooms.
Carry a first-aid kit
Carrying a first-aid kit on your vacation is crucial. In case you develop a blister on your feet by roaming around a coral beach or walking through a shopping village, it will be quite helpful. However, if you suffer a serious wound, consult a doctor as early as possible, to avoid any kind of further pain and injury.
If you are traveling for long hours.
If you have traveled for more than two to three hours, make sure to stretch your legs. Perform some flexibility exercises for the knees and ankles, for problem free running and walking throughout the day. By performing these exercises, blood circulation in your legs will increase, and your pain will reduce to a great extent.
Listen to your feet
If you have any kind of injury, evidence of ingrown nails or pain, do consult a doctor immediately. Otherwise, these injuries will not only cause you significant pain and discomfort but can potentially even ruin your vacation.
Remember always, happier your feet are, the happier your vacation will be.
