People most often eat grapefruit raw and perhaps simply use it as a salad ingredient. Grapefruit is a rich source of vitamin C and fiber. It can also boost your metabolism and help you lose weight. Here are five healthy grapefruit recipes that you must try.

1. Grapefruit-Mint Refresher
Ingredients:
- 1 tall glass of grapefruit juice
- 1 tsp grapefruit pulp
- 5 fresh mint leaves
- Rock salt to taste
- Ice
How to prepare:
Mix grapefruit juice and mint in a blender. Add pulp, salt and ice cubes. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy.
2. Grapefruit-Pineapple Drink
Ingredients:
- 1 medium cup of grapefruit juice
- 1 small cup of fresh or canned pineapple
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp dry coconut powder
- Ice
How to prepare:
Blend together all the ingredients and pour it into a cocktail glass.
3. Grapefruit Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1 cup peeled grapefruit
- 5 strawberries chopped finely
- 1 small banana
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup fresh spinach or kale
- Ice
How to prepare:
Blend all the ingredients to enjoy your breakfast or simply as a healthy energy drink. You can substitute yogurt with soy or almond milk also.

4. Grilled Grapefruit-Cheese Surprise
Ingredients:
- 5 grapefruit segments
- 5 thin slices of goat’s cheese
- 2 tsp crumbled walnuts
- 3 tsp raisins
- 2 tsp olive oil
- Salt
How to prepare:
Peel and prepare grapefruit segments. Soak them in olive oil. Grill them in an oven at 200 degrees for 7 minutes. Take them out and place goat’s cheese over each segment. Grill it again for 1 minute. When the grapefruits cool down a bit, add walnuts on top of each and sprinkle a bit of salt to taste. Place them in a bowl and add raisins for a bit of sweetness. Simply scoop one in a spoon and enjoy the sweet and sour grapefruit.
5. Grapefruit Pops
Ingredients:
- 1 cup grapefruit segments
- ½ cup orange segments
- ¼ tsp grapefruit zest
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- Sugar to test
How to prepare:
Mix all the ingredients in a blender. When the mixture is creamier and smoother in texture, pour it into a mold to freeze for 6-7 hours or until ready. You can also use this mixture to use it as a creamy dessert without freezing. Instead of ice cream molds, put them in small cups and place in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours. The mixture will remain creamier but become a bit cohesive in texture. Sprinkle chocolate chip cookies on top and relish.
