5 Healthy and Easy to Prepare Sushi Bowls
It requires a great deal of technique and practice to even make a decent sushi roll let alone a perfect one. If you love sushi and want to make it at home, one idea is to prepare sushi bowls instead of rolls. You can include various fresh ingredients to make your sushi recipes healthier.
Crab and Avocado Sushi Bowl
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown or sushi rice
- 2 oz crabmeat, shredded
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- ¼ avocado, chopped
- 1 small cucumber, diced
- 1 small carrot
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 nori sheet, shredded
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
- Salt, to taste

Add 1 ½ cup water in the rice and simmer until done. Mix sugar, salt and vinegar together over low heat and pour over rice. Mix crab, nori, ginger and vegetables together and divide into two bowls. Add rice on top. Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle sesame seeds. This sushi recipe usually also requires mayonnaise but to make a healthier version, you can ditch it. It is also a good sushi recipe for beginners.
Vegan Sushi Bowl
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown rice
- 1 small cucumber, chopped
- 1 small carrot, chopped
- 1 radish, thinly-sliced
- ½ cup edamame
- ½ cup tofu
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 nori sheet, shredded
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp black sesame seeds
- Salt, to taste

Cook rice with salt and vinegar. Gently sauté vegetables, ginger and tofu in sesame oil and then add sesame seeds. Divide the vegetables, edamame, tofu and rice into two bowls. Top with soy sauce. Sushi Roll Vegetable Bowl
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown rice
- 1 sheet nori
- 2 oz salmon
- 1 small cucumber, julienned
- 1 small carrot, julienned
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- Salt, to taste

To prepare these sushi roll recipes, cook rice with vinegar, sugar and salt and set aside. Use the nori sheet, rough side up. Lay it flat on a rolling mat. Put some rice in the center of the sheet and spread it evenly. Place the salmon strips (¼ by ½ by 3-inches) in the center with vegetables. Roll the mat over the filling slowly. Now, slice the roll into six pieces. Place 3 sushi rolls, some rice and vegetables in two bowls. Sprinkle sesame seeds and add some soy sauce.
Green Onion and Salmon Sushi Bowl
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown rice
- 2 oz salmon, thinly-sliced
- 2 green onion, finely-chopped
- 1 small cucumber, diced
- ½ cup avocado, chopped
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 nori sheet, shredded
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- Salt, to taste

To prepare this sushi recipe, cook rice with salt and vinegar. Mix salmon, nori, ginger and vegetables with lemon juice and divide into two bowls. Add rice on top. Drizzle with soy sauce. This is one of the easiest easy sushi recipes to make.

Tofu and Cucumber Salad Sushi Bowl
Ingredients
- ½ cup sushi rice
- ½ cup tofu
- 1 cucumber, diced
- ½ cup edamame
- 1 oz salmon, thinly-sliced
- 1 oz tuna, thinly-sliced
- 1 small carrot, grated
- 1 medium-sized radish, grated
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp black sesame seeds, toasted
- Salt, to taste
(Serves 2)
To make this sushi salad recipe, cook rice with salt and vinegar. Mix together rest of the ingredients and divide into two bowls. Add rice and this easy sushi recipe is ready.
